ESAW is proud to help Scholars and Athletes succeed in their academic and athletic goals. Because we believe in giving back, we offer an annual scholarship for two (2) deserving student athletes. Our Scholarship goes to one (1) male and one (1) female per year. All student/athletes are eligible to apply for scholarship award.

How to Apply?

  1. Send in a short essay (500 – 1,000 words) answering the following questions:
  • Who has been the most influential person in your life, why?
  • What is the most important aspect of being a student and/or athlete?
  • How do you give back to your community?
  • What are you going to pursue a degree in?
  • One thing you learned at ESAW Foundation?

Deadline: July 15th (of the current year)


  • The applicant must be a high school senior or be attending a post-secondary institution and can show proof.
  • The applicant must have volunteered a minimum of one hour at ESAW Foundation;
  • or attended/volunteered at a VELOCITYDC3 training; 
  • or the applicant must have volunteered a minimum 5 hours at another 501(c)(3) or Religious organization prior to submitting essay application. (Please note for “other 501(c)(3) or Religious organizations, a letter of proof and contact information must be provided) 

Example: You volunteered at your church, we need a letter verifying and contact information for the person verifying. 

How to submit

All submissions must be emailed by 11:59pm July 15th of current year. If essay is not received by the deadline, you will not be eligible to receive the scholarship award. NO EXCEPTIONS! BE EARLY, WAITING UNTIL 11:59 July 15th IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

You must include your name, a headshot of yourself, high school, sport (if applicable) and the name of the college you are attending.


When will the selected applicant be notified?

The recipients will be notified via phone and post mail within 4 weeks of the deadline July 15th. We will also post the names and picture of the recipients on our website.

How much is the Scholarship?

Scholarships may vary year to year, however the average scholarship is between $500 and $4000.

Will one recipient receive more than the other?

No. Each scholarship will be the same amount. (i.e. recipient 1 is awarded $2000, so is recipient 2)

When is the award received?

The award is mailed 72 hours after we post the two recipients on our website, however pick up arrangements can be made at time of notification.
